2219: Best Sushi Restaurant (so far..)

I suddenly have cravings for sushi. It's not good at all to have such cravings especially when you're in Europe, where it's not widely available and its price will cut your throat.

Since i can't do much, i might as well turn my sushi cravings into words... yes, that is by blogging about my 'best sushi eatery'.... at 2219 :)

I visited this little sushi restaurant about 2 years ago and i fell in love with it instantly! It was like love at first sight/taste. When i was back in Malaysia, i would visit this shop at least twice a month (actually twice is quite an understatement :O)

Anyway, reasons why i like the sushi here;

Look at the size of Chuka Idako (baby octopus) and the generous filling of potato salad and chuka kurage!

They serve fresh sashimi's. Their salmon sushis' are my favourite. I like the thickness and the freshness of the salmon. It's thick, cold (right from the chiller) and so fresh i swear i've never tasted so fresh salmons before! In places like Sakae or Sushi King, their salmon are so thin, it can even compete with the thickness of an A4 size paper. Plus it doesn't make up to the price you have to pay. I regret every single time after dining at those commercialised sushi restaurant! ><

Apart from the freshness, the amount of fillings and toppings for Nigirizushi (oblong shaped sushi) they serve are a lot. For instance, Potato Salad Sushi; They put damn lots of Potato Salad on the rice. Get what i mean?

Ebi Tenpura Maki and Soft Shell Crab (A must try!)

Besides ordering their Nigirizushi (e.g. salmon sushi), i like their Makizushi too especially Ebi Tenpura Maki. It's rolled sushi wrapped with seaweed and the filling consist of a shrimp tempura (see picture above). When you take a bite of this sushi, you can taste that the rice is cold but the tenpura is actually still hot. This only tells you one thing; it's freshly fried prior to ordering. Not only that, you can also taste the freshness of the shrimp because it 'bounces' as you chew it. Hmm, pardon me as i've run out of words to describe the amazing-ness.

Their Soft-Shell Crab is absolutely delicious! Again, it's freshly fried and i seriously don't know how to describe the awesome-ness of this dish. It's definitely a must-try dish too!

I was savouring the soft-shell-crab. Damn delicious i tell you!

Their Tempura Udon is a MUST-TRY too! I've tasted Udon soup in several Japanese outlets and i don't find them that nice, probably because i feel thirsty after consuming them (which tells me that they must have sprinkled lots of ajinomoto). However, this Tempura Udon in 2219 is different. The soup is seasoned proportionately, just the right amount of sweetness and saltiness. After consuming the soup, it will somewhat makes me feel at peace. Oh they serve together with Tempura (shrimp) too. Guess i don't have to repeat the crispiness of the batter and the freshness of the shrimp *wink*

Tenpura Udon (i forgot to take the picture of the tempura)

Unagi Kabayaki. This is seriously so nice, compared to Sushi King or other Japanese Buffet. But it's very pricey, RM 25.00.

A little reminder, if you plan to have dinner, you should go at least 2 hours before you get hungry because they cook damn slow.

Chao!
