My Blessed Life

Didn’t surprise me at all that my previous post was 5 months ago. Look, although I’ve not been able to physically pen down my thoughts here, I’ve been mind-blogging from time to time. Anyway, I’m back in Malaysia now for a 2 month break and I’m going back at the end of January for an internship there. Doing internship in Switzerland. Wonder why am i not excited.

I’ve not blogged for so long and so much had happened, I really do not know where to start. Well, my life changed ever since I left to Switzerland. It has been a wonderful 5 months studying abroad. I still remember vividly the day when I first arrived. I cried myself to bed, woke up the next day and continued crying and it went on for days and then weeks… I was so homesick that I wished I could turn back time and settle on pursuing my tertiary education locally. Coz you know, it sucks so bad to be away from home. It hurts so bad to be here while your boyfriend is there. It still gives me hell now and then but I’ve learned to get used to it. I learned that it takes courage and time to get out of your comfort zone and adapt to a whole new environment. Even though it has been just 4 months of studying in Switzerland, I find myself a more ‘improved’ person. I learned, observed and experienced so many things while studying abroad. I really find myself more independent, whereby I do my own laundry, clean my room on a weekly basis, manage my finances (I have an excel spreadsheet of my expenses, no joke!), compare grocery prices like any typical aunties in the market and making my own decision. One most important element I’ve learned is ‘appreciation’. It’s horrible to know that I always take things/people for granted last time. Anyway, I know I was never the same anymore. And this overall makes me a happier person, for sure :)

Coping with long-distance is not something new to me. My relationship started off with long distance anyway, 2 years ago. Just that this is slightly different as we don’t get to meet as often as we like because we’re like… 6000 miles away. And since we don’t live high on the hog, we definitely can’t afford RM4.5k plane ticket! But I’m really delighted with the ways we handled this ‘challenge’. Long emails everyday, sms everyday, webcam every weekend, sending postcards… I’m still wondering where is the snail mail which he ‘wanted’ to send me… Anyway, now that I’m back, I will definitely treasure our time together. Nothing has changed, our feelings for each other is still strong and we’re enjoying each other’s company ...

In Switzerland, my days couldn’t be any happier if it wasn’t for my friends. I love you all to bits. I wish I have time to write more about each and every one of my lovelies in Switz but I don’t have much time. I’m only left with 19 days here. So I’m trying not to spend so much time on the net, instead more quality time with my boyfie and family members. Sigh. Time flies. And soon I have to start packing already. But guess what? I haven’t unpacked also. There’s just too much to do here and I’m not ready to go back! :( It’s so contradicting you know. I started my post with the title ‘My Blessed Life’ and here I am complaining…

Sigh. Anywayyy… pictures below to sum up my ‘adventure’ in Switzerland, which a lot of you must have seen them since I always post up pictures in my facebook.

I'm going to start my first picture with Cows.. Yes, apart from Swiss Knives and Chocolates, Switzerland is famous for Cows.. and these 3 greeted me almost everyday when i walked to school.

Our first trip together to Mount Pilatus. The scenery was breathtaking!

The very next week, we went up to Mount Titlis. First time play snow! It was a memorable day.

Went into an ice cave :)

First time rowing boat in my life :)

Our occasional visit to Lake Lucerne during Summer :)

That's Viet Anh btw, my first Vietnamese friend :)

Our coffee session at Starbucks by the lake.

Camwhore while preparing to go Zurich!

Lovely Patrice and myself at Zurich.

Then, it was International Night. Had lots of fun and not to forget, great food :)

A group photo that night.

During our mid-term break, the four of us (Hayley, Tom, Eean and myself) went to Italy!

We visited Vatican City for a day :)

We went to Florence for two days!

Buying souvenirs at Michelangelo's statue.

Shopped at Florence...

We took many pictures with many naked statues and we ate lots of ice cream :D

Had the best Hot Chocolate in Italy! Seriously, it was the best i've ever tasted in my entire life!!!

Oh, and i've had the best Carbonara too... best ever in my entire life :D

We went to Rome and of course, we visited the Colosseum

The shot of the day in front of Colosseum.

I don't remember where was this.. But people, meet Eean! Good looking but too bad, he isn't available :P

Weeeeee~~ Hayley, i miss taking pictures like that with you :( Remember we took pictures with the moon everyday when we were in Italy??

First time overnight in airport. I still remember how cold it was!

Parents couriered instant noodles over to me to help reduce my homesickness :)

Not long after, we came back and celebrated Dustin's birthday :) We managed to surprise him.

Got invited to a Japanese theme lunch at Swiss Room. That's our uniform btw.

Went to Gay Bar for the first time :)

Celebrated Peggy's birthday with my Hong Kong friends :)

Celebrated Mid Autumn Festival by having steamboat and then followed by 'drinking session'

School trip to Zagg. Something like FHM in KL Convention Centre. Except this Zagg is a lot smaller.

Went up to Jungfrau Mountain, a small town called Wengen for Internship Probation.. which i got rejected :(

Celebrated Tom's birthday with Vietnamese/Thai cuisines. Great dinner pals!

Occasional dinner (eating out) with the gang

Sometimes when i'm too lazy to go campus for dinner, i'll cook maggie mee for myself... adding some seafood to it :)

Sometimes i join my Hong Kong friends for dinner. That's cola chicken btw. Thanks Ken & Tiffany, for all the wonderful dinners!

FunFair at KKL..

We went to Geneva during our Revision Week.. to eat Dim Sum :D

The group that went to Geneva, posing behind the famous fountain.

We looove taking pictures together! I miss you girls so much ><
Oh look at my handbag. You know what? When i brought it back, my boyfie said it looks like 'Siu loong bao'.. =.="

This was taken in Geneva as well. Wish we can sit down on grass like this in Malaysia. Or lie down on the grass like some couples we saw over there with our loved ones.

And then we went SKATING, the very next day :)

During exam week, Ah Fong (my good buddy from Malaysia) cooked for me. He's a great cook and a wonderful friend :)

Then exam was over... time to start packing and fly back to Malaysia

This was sort of our 'farewell dinner'.. where Gary cooked Bak Kut Teh for us.

Guys, meet Kylie :) My Sushi buddy!

We celebrated the end of our exams over sushi dinner :)

After dinner we head to SkyBar for a drink and on our way, we built 'SnowBaby'

At SkyBar...

The next day, we went shopping for souvenirs.. chocolates, to be precise *wink*

Miss you Guys! + Tom & Viet Anh!

This lovely card was presented to me by Viet Anh. He's so emotional sometimes and i find it very cute coz you hardly see such in a guy.

Went to Basel for a last trip before i come back to Malaysia..

The pretty christmas fair in Basel...

Beautifully decorated streets...

Our last group picture during Eean and my farewell.

Writing this post makes me miss so many people back there. Without them, i don't know what my life in Switzerland would be like. I'm so glad to be able to meet you guys. To all you people, i will be coming back pretty soon.

Ahhh.. it's 3.41am!

Good night world!

p/s: I wrote this post as i've promised Patrice i would do so... i hope you enjoyed reading it. Muax!

  2. Hahahaha... did you miss the cows in IMI? XD Yes you should update your blog since you have an Iphone now already. I visit your blog every time i go online you know :) no tables and chair, hmmm.. yeah can be difficult and not good for you too since you always complain the pain in your backbone/hips. My boyfriend wanted to get me those portable laptop-table-on-bed. I'll see how big is it and whether i can bring it back to Switz or not ok... i don't need it but you need it more than me.

    *hugs*

    Miss you too! :)

  4. Hi darling, i think i might download photoshop to my laptop, to kill boredom when i'm in Switz. The best spaghetti deserves to have a picture by itself, without me in it :)

Really hope we can visit Italy together, not even Paris :)

Those cows are just my morning passerby's.. they never protect me, instead always angrily 'moo' me.

  5. Dear, the cows are one thing I really DON'T miss lo...shit, by the time we go back to IMI in July, it'll be summer...and the cows are going to become my alarm clock again, dammit! :P Hehe, don't worry dear, I'll try to update when I can...because when the connection is sucky, really got no mood to blog at all. And my bed has become my sleeping place/sitting place/table all combined. And because the windowsill is the only place where I can lean back, my neck, shoulders and back muscles ache after a while because of my sitting position. >.< Oooh, portable laptop-table-on-bed? Got such thing? I've never heard of it before! That would be sooooooo useful for me now... ;)
